Country Village Day School Ages and Classes

Find out More about Our Curriculum

At Country Village Day School, we offer programs for children ages six weeks through fifth grade.  We are open from 6:30 AM until 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Children attending Country Village on a part time basis may extend their time here by paying an hourly fee after their part time care.  These hours must be prearranged so we can make certain we have adequate staff to care for the children.  You know your little one is receiving the early childhood education necessary for success at our center. Ask about our upper or lower preschool curriculum by contacting us today.

Lower School—Infants "Teddies":
The largest of our classrooms houses our Infant Program. The babies are kept in a separate environment in an attempt to help keep them as healthy and safe as possible. Each baby is cared for based on an individual schedule, including feeding and sleeping. Parents must provide bottles, formula, and food for their baby, as well as diapers, a change of clothes, and a favorite blanket or toy. We provide bedding, extra blankets, burp cloths, bibs, colorful toys, books, and music.

Lower School—Waddlers "Ladybugs and Snails":
Waddlers is a special name given to our youngest toddler group; these children are mobile pre-toddlers who need a well-planned environment with developmentally appropriate toys and stimulation. During the transition into the waddler room children are weaned off bottles and transitioned to taking 1 nap a day. We ask that the parents provide finger foods as children are encouraged to feed themselves, receiving help when needed. During a formal 2-week transition period, we work towards this goal individually with each child. This room and preschool curriculum includes more scheduled meals, snacks, daily music, movement, art, and outside play.

Lower School—Toddlers "Hunnybees and Kangaroos":
Our toddler development and preschool curriculum program is for children between the ages of 18 and 30 months. The program has a teacher/child ratio of 1:7 and a room capacity of 14. The staff in each class introduces your child to self-help skills and developmentally appropriate activities such as painting, experimenting with sensory activities, music, movement, socialization, language, toilet training, eating, and self-responsibility tasks. You receive a written account of your child's day.

In general, all of our toddlers follow a preschool curriculum schedule that ensures each day be spent on developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities. While we usually follow a routine, we also take into consideration the moods of the children on any given day. As our day is an 11.5-hour day, your child may see a change in staff. This usually works quite well and your child will become attached to all their teachers.

Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten "Monkeys, Penguins and Caterpillars":
Beginning in September of each year, Country Village offers preschool and pre-kindergarten. The teacher/student ratio for our preschoolers and pre-kindergartners is 1:10. The preschool program begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. Extended care is available until 6:00 p.m. for children of parents who require full-time care.  Our preschool and pre-kindergartners engage in a variety of activities to build experiences, language skills, counting and patterning and social awareness.

Before/After School Program "Young Campus Kids and Campus Kids"Country Village Day School also offers a before and after school program for those students in kindergarten through fifth grade attending Mercer Island School District, or St. Monica Elementary School on Mercer Island.

Campus Kids, a classroom within the Upper School, offers Before and After School activities for children ages 6 through 12.  Early arrivals are supervised until the public school busses pick children up at Country Village.  Busses drop children off in the afternoon where children supervised until parents are able to pick up. Half-day public school kindergartners return at 12:20 pm and the grade school children at approximately 4:00 pm. We do not provide transportation for children other than St. Monica's School.  All transportation to the public schools is provided by public school busses and/or parents. We ask that parents let us know which days each week your child will be coming to Country Village so we can make sure your child is getting off of the bus.  If not coming, or coming an extra day, we also appreciate a phone call (206) 232-7107 or email: juliebaileycv@aol.com or lindatcv@aol.com.

Immediately from the busses, the children are greeted, roll call is taken and they are given a snack.  The remaining hours are homework table, outside play, table games, projects and interests the students find challenging and interesting.

During school breaks, public school teacher workdays, or conference days we provide care so the children enrolled in our Before and After School Program can come to Country Village on those days.  There are usually field trips, swimming, special lunches, cooking activities or movies planned for those days.   These things are an added cost, but they are also optional.  Most students want to participate in the planned activities.

Country Village provides a Summer Program that school aged children can participate in.
